I am finding it difficult to upload my DVD clips on google and also uploadiing on edublog i wonder what I am doing wrong, so I am going to try to upload my comic life work on edublog hopefully i’ll succeed. No success with it yet, Judy please can you tell me how i can upload my DVD clips on google, and how I can upload on to edublog.

Hi, sorry for the dealy in writing but I am away on holiday. Just logged in and thought I’d try and explain. To upload your video clip into goodle video follow these instructions:
locate your film on the camera card and place it onto the desktop by dragging it off the card so that you can see the file and know what the name of the file is.

Now go to google video
http://video.google.co.uk/

sign in using your email address as the username
aadetoba@transformationteachers.org.uk
and then use your password. If you have lost this please contact me via email as I don’t want to include it here.

Underneath your name at the top of the page there is a link click on upload your videos

Click on browse and go to your desktop and find the file that you want to upload. remember this should be the video you took in your camera or the output from iMovie.

Make usre that you put in all the information regarding title, genre etc.

Then click on the button Upload Video at the bottom of the form.

This might take a long time but should work. Remember Video files are often quite large even if they are only a few seconds.

When the file is uploaded you go click on the link uploaded videos (next to youtr email address at the top of the page)and you will be taken to a list of the films that you have uploaded successfully.

Click on the name of the film and it should open the film for you to watch.

in the URL line you will see something like this
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=926873742788900159&hl=en-GB

copy just the number part
926873742788900159

now go to you blog page and start a new post.
Click on the G in a box and a window will open asking you for the number paste it in now.

Add any comments that you want to and then publish. When you look at the your you will see the video.

I’m sorry that the instructions are rather long winded but once you done it a couple of times it will seem easy.

Hope this helps.

Judy

Hi there (I realise I’ve read your blog but don’t know your name!)

It’s reassuring to see other people on the programme finding their way slowly – having been chatting to Sue and Judy via their blogs, I feel very ICT-illiterate by comparison! But I CAN tell you how to upload comic life to your blog as it’s one thing I’ve done (you can see on my blog – tware.edublogs.org) Judy also has some examples of how to do it on her blog.

Initially, i just copied the URL of where i’d saved it on Flickr into my posting, but I’ve now set up my blog on Flickr, which seems a bit complicated but is easier once you’ve done it. You go to ‘your account’ at the bottom, then ‘extending Flickr’, then you can add a blog there. We have WordPress blogs, and you have to add the stuff they tell you to add when you type in the URL. You also have to put in your edublogs username and password.

Hope it works!

I’ve not used iDVD yet … instead, I’ve made videos using iMovie, which I’ve found fairly straightforward to upload to Google Video (although it’s a bit slow). Have you opened a Google Video account? Once you’ve done that, you click on “upload your videos” then choose your file. Actually … I’ve just realised that I always convert from iMovies to a Quicktime file (choosing “web streaming”) in order to make it a bit smaller. You could try that … I look forward to seeing the results some time soon!

As for the ComicLife, so far I have used Grab to take a picture, then have uploaded the picture onto Flickr and then on to Edublogs. So I still need to fiddle around with uploading actual files! Have you tried uploading to Fronter?
